SPOTLIGHT: Timir Patel, 6’11″ Forward

Standing at 6’11”, he has excellent length and quickness that makes him a very difficult player to guard. Combine his height with a pure, picturesque outside jumper, an undeniable passion for the game, and a high basketball IQ, and you have Timir Patel, one of the premier professional Indian basketball players in the world.

Patel played Division 1 basketball at Houston Baptist University, where he graduated with a BBA in Finance. He’s trained with NBA-Star forward Rashard Lewis of the Washington Wizards, and has received invitations from Harish Sharma of the Basket Federation of India, and most recently from the Foshan Long Lions of the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association). He also played briefly in the NBL where he averaged 11 points and 7 rebounds per game.

Timir is currently training and evaluating his playing options. “I want to play at the highest possible level, whether it be overseas or in the NBA,” says Patel. This year he is also planning to re-connect with the Indian National Team. Once given a chance to work out, he says “I am confident my game will speak for itself.”

In the meantime, as part of the Hoops family, Timir is helping to promote the sport as best as he can. “You guys are doing a great thing, and I love being part of it,” he said. Timir clearly has a bright future ahead, and has been a great example of Indian talent, hard work, and basketball prowess!

Timir is a tall guy BUT honestly he doesnt look 6’11″ – then again Michael Beasley was listed at 7 ft when he came out of college and he’s more like 6’9″
